GIS Maps can now be distributed via PDF documents

4 Jun 2008 | Rowan Hanna | No Comment

Geographic Information System (GIS) professionals using ArcGIS can now distribute GIS maps to a wider audience. ESRI, the creator of ArcGIS is one of the current leaders when it comes to creating world mapping and spatial analysis applications. ESRI and Adobe collaborated to allow ArcGIS 9.3 users to create GIS maps and export them in PDFs. This feature now allows anyone to access and interact directly with the maps by using Adobe Acrobat 9 without installing ArcGIS. Both companies are expecting great benefits from their team-up as ESRI will be able to be more flexible in reaching more enterprise and government organizations while Adobe’s PDF will be more enhanced as more users and developers are gaining access to it.
