iRex Technologies has released a new version of their electronic reading device — the iRex Digital Reader 1000 series. The iRex 1000 series features a unique 10.2 inch electronic paper display and increased memory, as well as a durable design, which was demonstrated when the device was dropped from a height of 1 meter, and survived to tell the tale!

I wonder if they might increase the height to 2m and drop a paper-based book along side — and then compare the results
Maybe we could load 3000 books on the iRex, let it fall from 2 metres high on my head, and drop the paper version of those 3000 books from the same height on Karl’s head?
I wonder how that would compare ^_^
I’ve got a thick skin — I imagine they’d just bounce right off

A few days ago I tested Adobe Reader 9 on Windows 7 and didn’t discover any major issues. Adobe Reader worked correctly despite the fact that Windows 7 is not yet a supported platform. Today I thought I’d try the same with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Installing software on an unsupported operating system isn’t usually a good idea. In fact, it is quite often fraught with risk, as a lot of people found in 2006 when they tried to install software on Windows Vista that was originally been built for Windows XP and hadn’t been updated yet. Luckily — so far — it seems like it is going to be a far smoother transition from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
