Native PDF for Office 2007 with Service Pack 2

By Karl De Abrew on 8 January, 2009 | , No Comment

As you’d mostly know now — at the moment, if you want to write from Office 2007 to PDF, you need to download the “2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS” plug-in or use a third-party tool. Come Office 2007 SP2 , Microsoft has touted that this will be this built directly into the application, as well as support for ODF (Open Document Format) and others.

Whilst this was announced in May of 2008 as being a H1 release, an update from the Office Sustained Engineering blog now suggests the release will come sometime within February and April 2009.

We’re pleased to announce that Service Pack 2 (SP2) for the 2007 Microsoft Office system is expected to be released in the near future.  Although we aren’t yet announcing the exact release date, it will fall between February and April of 2009.
