Foxit Phantom 1.0 Beta Released

12 May 2009 | | No Comment

In a not entirely unsurprising move, Foxit Software, makers of Foxit Reader and Foxit eSlick, has released Foxit Phantom, an all-in-one PDF application aimed at business users with PDF creation, viewing, editing, conversion and security functionality.

This new release looks like it is a direct competitor to Acrobat Standard — but with slightly less functionality and a much lower price. It joins Nitro PDF Professional and Nuance’s PDF Converter Professional as the primary Acrobat alternatives.

Overall I’m fairly impressed with the look and feel of Foxit Phantom, as well as the range of useful functionality.

Features include:

  • View, print and annotate your PDFs
  • Edit your PDF content with the touchup feature (Check Out Touch Object Tool in Advanced Editing Tools)
  • Create PDFs and convert any printable file to a PDF
  • Organize pages in your PDFs with the Phantom Organizer
  • Secure your PDFs with passwords and certificates
  • Digitally sign your PDF files
  • Create and manage stamps in your PDFs
  • Edit and design multimedia areas within your PDFs
  • Create and design fillable PDF forms

Visit the Foxit Phantom product page for more information.
