Infringement Lawsuit Against Palm, Inc. Filed by Artifex Software

Artifex Software Inc. announced filing a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California against Palm, Inc., because of Palm’s unauthorized copying and distribution of one of Artifex’s registered technologies. The company is a developer and copyright owner of muPDF, a PDF rendering engine. Palm illegally integrated muPDF in their “PDF viewer” application without Artifex’s authorization. This unauthorized copying is widespread, as Palm has included “PDF viewer” in every Palm Pre unit shipped since the product’s launch in June 2009.
