Amazon releases Kindle DX in over 100 Countries

8 Jan 2010 | | No Comment

Amazon.com today announced that its Kindle DX is available for customers around the world. Kindle DX is a purpose-built reading device that offers wireless delivery and selection of content with a 9.7-inch electronic paper display.

The device is almost 2.5 times the surface area of Kindle’s 6-inch display and supports 16-shades of grey, which is perfectly suited to content such as professional and personal documents, newspapers, magazines and textbooks.

Kindle DX wirelessly downloads its content and includes a native PDF reader. It also has an auto-rotate capability and storage for up to 3,500 books. It utilizes the same 3G wireless technology as cell phones.

Ian Freed, VP, Amazon Kindle said “Kindle DX is great for personal and professional documents, cookbooks and textbooks – anything that is highly formatted. Documents look so good on the big Kindle DX display, that you’ll find yourself changing ink toner cartridges less often and printing fewer documents,”. He also added “We’re eager to be able to offer Kindle DX to customers worldwide so they can carry all of their personal documents along with their whole library in one slender package.”

One can pre-order the Kindle DX with global wireless from today.
