11 Jan 2010 | | No Comment

ebrary, a company offering products and technologies for digital content, today announced the availability of DASH! to its Academic Complete subscribers for quick and easy uploading, integrating and sharing infinite PDF documents from their computers. The latest feature adds more value to the company’s flagship subscription e-book database, which provides multi-user access to more than 45,100 authoritative titles in PDF and other doc formats from publishers worldwide with research capabilities including InfoTools.

The unveiling of Dash! will take place at the ALA Midwinter Conference and the company will use this technology for creating collections on topics including natural disaster, breast cancer and autism real time at the ebrary booth.

The President of ebrary, Kevin Sayar said “DASH! is really a progression of our core technology, which turns PDF files into searchable, highly interactive databases in a very powerful and cost-effective way”. He also added “by making this capability available as a self-serve feature to our global community of Academic Complete customers, we can empower librarians to further facilitate knowledge and ideas.”

At present in its beta stage, Dash! makes it possible for authorized librarians to upload individual PDF files or parts of documents with corresponding metadata from their computers. The beta release is available free of cost to Academic Complete customers.
