Nuance Communications, Inc. a company providing solutions for speech and imaging, today announced the release of the free Nuance PDF Reader as an alternative to Adobe Reader. The application is smaller, secure and connects cloud-based PDF-to-Microsoft Office conversion services. It also offers PDF form save, annotations and features of Microsoft Sharepoint.

The application is just an 18 mb download and requires only 20% of the disk space compared to Adobe Reader. The reader provides unique interoperability with Microsoft Office, offering the ability of turning the viewed PDF files in reader into fully-formatted Microsoft Word, Excel and Office XML documents via cloud-based service hosted  on their server at NuancePDF.com. There’s also a  built-in SharePoint Connector allowing users to open and save PDF files directly into Microsoft SharePoint.

Michael Orasin, research manager with International Data Corp said “The Nuance PDF Reader provides a simple, but elegant, approach for converting PDFs to Microsoft Office documents, bringing cloud-based PDF conversion capabilities to the masses,”

The application supports all the operating system from Windows and can be downloaded at www.nuance.com/PDFReader in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish.
