Apago, Inc. announced the release of its improved PDF Enhancer 3.5, a software for PDF Repurposing & Workflow Automation. The new version is a major update to the last release with improved processing speed, reliability, advanced clean-up of scanned documents, AES security and improved handling of font & color.

Inside a PDF is a Postscript stream of commands which describe the page – they draw the text, images or shapes. You can extract this stream and look at it directly. It looks like this -I have added comments in brackets after each command to explain.

Adobe has provided a workaround to temporarily address the issue in its Reader and Acrobat software that could allow hackers to spread malicious software through an embedded content in the PDF document.

Jeremy Conway, product manager at NitroSecurity (no relation to Nitro PDF Software) has taken the weakness in PDF readers that Didier Stevens of Belgium discovered last week, and extended it to created a PDF worm that can freely wriggle its way around from PDF to PDF.
