VueScan 8.6.33 supports Searchable PDFs

Hamrick Software, a developer of scanning solutions, announced the latest version of VueScan, its best-selling scanning software, which now supports searchable PDF files.

VueScan 8.6.33 allows users to create PDF files which could be indexed and searched. VueScan uses Google’s Tesseract 3.0 OCR software for scanning and saving the searchable PDFs. VueScan offers advanced scanning features including options for handling faded slides and automatically adjusting images to achieve optimum color balance. VueScan includes built-in IT8 color calibration of scanners to produce colors that look true to life, batch scanning and other advanced productivity features.

VueScan is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. The Standard edition is priced at 39.95USD while the Professional edition is priced at 79.95USD.
