Beijing Founder Apabi Technology, a China-based provider of Digital Publishing technologies, is taking on the might of Adobe PDF Reader with its new CEBX technology. CEBX stands for Common E-document Blending XML and is a unified layout document technology for e-books.

Anti-virus software company Kaspersky Lab has just released a report regarding “Information Security Threats in the First Quarter of 2010″. According to this report, the premier target of virus creators and hackers has been primarily focused on a certain number of software companies including Adobe, Microsoft and Sun.

Adobe has decided to postpone a fix for the latest vulnerability discovered in Adobe Reader and Acrobat until 29th June. Adobe had warned on this latest vulnerability on Friday, 4th June 2010 which could lead attackers to exploit the Flash Player and Adobe Reader.

Adobe has launched Adobe PDF Print Engine 2.5, its next-generation full-featured printing software for publishing graphically rich PDFs. PDF Print Engine 2.5 uses the new exchange standard PDF/VT for Variable Data Print (VDP) production.

QuoVadis announced that its Digital certificates are now automatically trusted in Adobe Acrobat 9 and Adobe Reader 9 via the Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL).

Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) was first introduced by Adobe in 2006 for the next generation of PDF print workflows and is now enhanced to support Xerox’s new colour 800/1000 presses. The new colour presses will help print service providers process more jobs through their shops faster and drive greater revenue with the availability of the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE).

CCE announced the release of ODX/3DPDF software, a C++ based API to generate 3D PDFs from native CAD data without need of Adobe PDF software. ODX/3DPDF is a component of CCE’s flagship Open Data eXchange (ODX) libraries.

Adobe announced that it will enable a new regular background service on 13th April to silently distribute and apply PDF updates to the worldwide installation of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. The new ‘silent’ service is aimed to keep the copies of its software fully-patched for more number of users.

Adobe has provided a workaround to temporarily address the issue in its Reader and Acrobat software that could allow hackers to spread malicious software through an embedded content in the PDF document.

Jeremy Conway, product manager at NitroSecurity (no relation to Nitro PDF Software) has taken the weakness in PDF readers that Didier Stevens of Belgium discovered last week, and extended it to created a PDF worm that can freely wriggle its way around from PDF to PDF.

Atlantic Zeiser announced its acquisition of a majority stake in SOFHA GmbH, a Berlin-based software solutions provider to OEMs of high-speed digital printing machines. SOFHA GmbH is also a co-development partner of Adobe and the acquisition will create new digital printing solutions based on Adobe’s PDF portfolio of standards.
