Adobe Systems acknowledges another critical vulnerability in Flash Player, Reader and Acrobat products which exposes its users to malicious attacks from hackers with an intention to steal sensitive data. Adobe is expected to issue an update by 15th November to close this vulnerability.

Recosoft announced the latest version 3.0 of PDF2ID, its PDF converter tool for converting PDFs to InDesign documents. PDF2ID v3.0 has been updated to include more than 150 new features and enhancements which would allow it operate seamlessly with Adobe InDesign CS3, CS4 and CS5.

CCE announced the release of ODX/3DPDF software, a C++ based API to generate 3D PDFs from native CAD data without need of Adobe PDF software. ODX/3DPDF is a component of CCE’s flagship Open Data eXchange (ODX) libraries.

Adobe announced that it will enable a new regular background service on 13th April to silently distribute and apply PDF updates to the worldwide installation of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. The new ‘silent’ service is aimed to keep the copies of its software fully-patched for more number of users.

Adobe has provided a workaround to temporarily address the issue in its Reader and Acrobat software that could allow hackers to spread malicious software through an embedded content in the PDF document.

Jeremy Conway, product manager at NitroSecurity (no relation to Nitro PDF Software) has taken the weakness in PDF readers that Didier Stevens of Belgium discovered last week, and extended it to created a PDF worm that can freely wriggle its way around from PDF to PDF.
