Last week he covered PDF: the tutorials is relatively straight-forward, simply going through the steps of how-to add a digital signature to a PDF, but for anyone who hasn’t done this before it could be quite useful.

ElcomSoft have long been a thorn in Adobe’s side. It all started way back in 2001 when Dmitry Sklyarov, an employee of Russian company ElcomSoft, was arrested in Las Vegas for distributing a product (Advanced eBook Processor) that Adobe alleged was designed to circumvent copyright protection measures in its eBook software.

With a somewhat unusual name, the company Hellopdf.com Inc, offers an aptly named, “Free PDF to Word Doc converter”. Although their product doesn’t support password protected PDFs, they provide links to some third-party tools which can remove security amongst other things.

Owners of Adobe Reader and Acrobat in lower versions than 8.1.1 installed in a Windows XP or Windows 2003 environment are being required to upgrade because of the rampant attack of a certain Trojan (Trojan.Pidief) to compromise computer systems.
